ZEN has made a conscious effort to preserve the environment. With 3D printing growing in popularity, it’s becoming another contributor to plastic pollution.

Even though PLA Plastic is bio-degradable – The packaging is not. ZEN has switched to a wooden reel that can be broken down, used as firewood and won’t have the same effect on the environment that traditional plastics would. They’ve also chosen to go box-less – less cardboard means less trees.

PLA (Polylactic Acid) is a biodegradable, sustainable and food safe polymer made from organic sources. Synthesized from organic sugars, PLA has become the most common material for 3D filaments due to its eco-friendliness and ease of use.
